Grimthorpe (Lord): A Rudimentary Treatise on Clocks, Watches and Bells for Public Purposes
O/P. 404 pages, folding frontispiece of the Westminster clock, 81 figs., 1975. A reprint of the 8th edition, originally printed in 1903, of this famous publication. Edmund Beckett, Lord Grimthorpe was one of the 19th century's great horological characters. The book contains lots of information on clocks, watches and chronometers. A very good copy (newspaper cutting about Denison on ffep) with fair dust jacket. (Ref: K354 - E5)

O/P. 28 pages, illus., 1973. The clock was built in 1540 and was probably designed by Nicholas Kratzer and made by Nicholas Oursian. The dial still exists but is now driven by a Gillet and Bland movement installed in 1879. A useful booklet which describes the clock and how to read the information on the dial. NEW. 400 pages, illustrated, 2002. A very comprehensive book, with a wealth of information for horologists and campanologists, about England's smallest county. The book has a gazeteer of all bells, sundials and turret clocks known to be in Rutland and a biographical listing of all Rutland clockmakers plus notes on clockmakers from outside the county who made clocks which are now located in the county. A useful section is devoted to information about British bell founders who supplied bells to Rutland - this information is not easily available elsewhere. A good book which deserves a place on your bookshelf. With dust jacket.

NEW. 432 pages, illustrated, 2006. An excellent book about William Potts & Sons, later Charles Potts & Company, who made turret clocks and dial clocks in Leeds from 1790 until 1958. Potts was one of the most important turret clock makers in Britain and exported to the British Empire, Russia and Argentina. The book has a complete history of the business together with a listing of over 1600 public clocks by Potts. The book has over 700 illustrations and reproduces a number of the firm's catalogues.
