The illustrations are really excellent as are the descriptions; the book has an appendix on dial theory & geometry as well as a glossary of dialling terms. Count Wilhelm IV of Hesse (1552 - 1592) built an observatory at Kassel and employed Jost Bürgi the famous mathematician, clockmaker and globe maker. This well produced book is a detailed study of astronomy at Kassel and of the celestial mechanical globes, astronomical clocks and armillary spheres, produced during the Landgraf's reign. A fine copy, with very good dust jacket and slip case, of an important book. [German language]

O/P. 306 pages, illustrations and descriptions of 30 clocks, 1971. This book reproduces and translates the manuscript written in 1475, of Brother Paulus Almanus. Lester (E.R.): John Kalabergo of Banbury
O/P. 99 pages + 32 page facsimile Banbury directory for 1851, 1975. John Kalabergo was born in Italy and settled in Banbury making and selling barometers and repairing and selling clocks. In 1851 Kalabergo's nephew, William Kalabergo, arrived from Italy to work for him, but within 3 months John was dead - murdered by his nephew. William Kalabergo was the last person to be publicly hanged at Oxford. A very good copy of the hardback edition. (Ref: K2309 - N1)
