Horological Books for April 2010

This is a quiet month in terms of new books on clocks and watches, but in the next few days we will have stock of a new book on portable pocket compasses which should be interesting. We also now stock a small book on Black Forest Clocks - and yes, it's in English! With reference to last month's newsletter, we now have Philip Priestley's new book on Aaron Lufkin Dennison in stock.

A Brief History of the Black Forest Clock
Kahlert (H.), Mühe (R.) & Zeller (M.)

This book tells the history of clockmaking in the Black Forest. It focuses on the lives and work of the clockmakers, the clock trade, developments in clock technology and well-known types of clocks, such as the lacquer shield clock, the cuckoo clock, and the small alarm clock. Also included are many illustrations showing the most noteworthy Black Forest clocks in the German Clock Museum's collection at Furtwangen.
