The book also has chapters on the development of the precision clock by William Hamilton Shortt with a list of all known Shortt clocks, the detail of their order-book specification, original location and subsequent history where known. NEW. 61 pages, 44 illustrations, 2007. A history of the design, manufacture and installation of the Liver clock supplied by Gent's of Leicester. This electrically driven 'waiting train' clock, installed in 1911 has four dials, each 25 feet in diameter, on two towers. The electro-mechanical chiming system was installed in 1954. Card covers. The sub-title says it all: Principles, Construction, Operation, Installation and Repair of Mains and Battery-operated Clocks for Domestic and Industrial Purposes.
