Henri Jacot, Paris c1890 A French grande sonnerie striking carriage clock by Henri Jacot, Paris complete with its original numbered travelling case. The clock has a polished and lacquered brass corniche case with push repeat feature and strikes the hours and quarters on two gongs. A lever for grande sonnerie/silent/petite sonnerie is mounted in the base. The white enamel dial has blued steel hands and the clock has its original platform lever escapement. |

The movement backplate has the Jacot stamp and is engraved with Jacot’s serial number 6722 which dates the clock to about 1890. The winding key is a modern replacement. Clock height, including handle, 7¼ inches.

Henri Jacot, one of the most respected makers of carriage clocks, worked at 31 Rue de Montmorency, Paris and took part in the Paris Exposition in 1855 and the London Exhibition of 1862. The first Henri Jacot died in 1868 and was succeeded by a nephew of the same name.The Jacot business ceased trading in about 1920. Stock No. C991 | ||
