Haley & Son, London c1840

The ebonised fruitwood veneered case has an architectural top and excellent cast brass mounts.

The case has brass caryatids to the front corners, scale pattern frets and decorative ring handles to the sides and stands on scroll pattern feet.

Several aspects of the clock are reminiscent of late 18th century workmanship, especially the brass dial and the caryatids to the case. The clock was however made in the 19th century, the architectural top to the case and the movement pillars being typical of the period

Case height 12 inches.

The traditional 5" wide brass arched dial has a strike silent facility in the arch and an aperture for the date.

The clock is signed on the silvered chapter ring Haley & Son London.

Charles Haley was admitted as a freeman of the Clockmakers Company in 1781 and is recorded as trading as Haley & Son at 7 Wigmore Street, London in 1832.
