An attractive George III mahogany 8-day bracket clock with 3-pad top, signed on the engraved and silvered dial Robt. Wood London.
The dial has a strike/silent lever in the arch and a date dial above 6 o'clock. All clock hands are of blued steel.
The mahogany case has brass scale pattern frets to the sides, and a brass bound 3-pad top with a decorative brass handle. There is brass edging to the front door, brass framing to the front glass and the clock stands on brass bracket feet.
The case is 16¾ inches high including the handle (14¾ inches without the handle).
Robert Wood is recorded as working in Horse Shoe Alley, Moorfields, London from about 1785 until circa 1810.

The back of the clock movement is engraved all over with a vase, flowers and foliage.
The clock has a 5-pillar, twin fusee movement with verge escapement and strikes the hours on a bell. The clock has a pull repeat, to sound the last hour on demand. |
