A good French striking carriage clock by Henri Jacot, in a gilt gorge pattern case.

The clock has a rectangular enamel dial, a platform lever escapement and strikes the hours and half hours on a gong. The clock retains its original gilding and has been cleaned and overhauled. The winding key is a replacement.

Height including handle 6¾ inches.

The movement backplate has the Jacot stamp and is engraved with Jacot’s serial number 16990 and Made in Paris indicating that it was made for the British market.

Henri Jacot is one of the most respected makers of French carriage clocks; his serial number dates this clock to between 1905 and 1910.
