A small Regency bracket clock signed on the 7” painted dial Grimalde & Johnson Strand London.

The mahogany veneered case has ebony stringing, brass inlays to the sides and stands on ball feet.

The clock strikes the hours on a bell and has a strike/silent feature on the backplate

Case height 14 inches.

The 5-pillar movement has an anchor escapement and is stamped on the frontplate Handley & Moore 2963.

Unusually for a Regency clock the movement has external set up ratchets.

Grimalde & Johnson are recorded as working together at 431 Strand between 1809 and 1826.

Two similar Regency clocks are illustrated in 'The Georgian Bracket Clock' by R. C. R. Barder, page 206.

Handley & Moore were in partnership from 1798 until 1824 when Handley died.
