[Christie's]: The Mostyn Tompion
O/P. The auction catalogue for a single item - the famous year-going spring driven table clock made by Thomas Tompion for William III. The catalogue has 12 photographs of the clock and 4 pages of description and provenance. Prior to the sale taking place the clock was sold to the British Museum. O/P. 237 lots, some illustrated. Highlight of the sale was a French early 17th century gilt brass table clock with minute hand, calendar and alarm. Other items included a rare pocket chronometer by Albert Potter, a fine quarter repeating musical watch with automaton by Henry Capt, and a fine German astrolabe dated 1524. A good copy, card covers.
